Θ Online Backups

While tape backups provide a certain level of protection against data-loss, they are far from foolproof. Not only is there a risk that either the backup had errors or the data has become corrupted, but there is the pragmatic question of how to restore – if the physical system is unavailable, the IT director is left with a handful of tapes and very few options.

CIS offers an alternative to the tape backup method of yesteryear by way of a robust online backup service. After an initial seed of a client’s data store, changes, or deltas, are sent nightly, or as otherwise scheduled, to the CIS datacenter. The deltas are not merged with the seed for a set number of days, allowing clients to “reach back” and recover files even weeks after they were corrupted, accidentally or maliciously deleted, or changed. Systems can be backed up on a server-by-server, folder-by-folder, or file-by-file basis, or any combination thereof – allowing for fine-grained control over what is archived.

In the event of a disaster there are many recovery options available through this managed service. Clients will have granular access to your backed-up files at all times and can engage CIS engineers to help bounce back from a catastrophe. CIS can quickly provide full copies of client’s data in various mediums, provide remote access through hosting a system on a Citrix server, or build-out a new server environment in our datacenter and deliver it to the client’s working environment. While there are many different types of remote backup available on the market today, CIS grants our users a level of protection not offered by other firms – and the peace of mind that comes with knowing that, if something does go wrong, an expert engineer will be available throughout the recovery process.
